ServicesRetirement Income Planning
Retirement Income Planning in Corpus Christi
We start by laying out every income source you will have in retirement and what it really adds up to each month. You see the plain findings first. Only then do we talk about options, and you decide what, if anything, makes sense.

Turning Savings Into a Paycheck You Can Count On
Building a nest egg is one job. Drawing it down without running short is another, and it brings new questions once work ends. How much can you take out each month? What if you live well into your nineties? What will a spouse or beneficiary have if you go first?
We take this slowly and carefully. First we gather what you already own: your Social Security estimate, any pension, a 401(k) or IRA, and any cash value sitting inside an older whole life or universal life policy. Then we put our findings in plain language, sketch the monthly numbers, and mark any shortfalls.
When a fixed annuity or a life insurance policy might close a gap, we explain how it works, what it costs and what you trade away to get it. Some reviews end with us telling you the setup you have is already doing its job. That is a fine outcome too.
What Your Planning Review Covers
A full income list
We write down each source you expect to rely on: Social Security, pensions, retirement accounts, rental or part-time earnings, and policy cash values. Many clients tell us that seeing everything together answers half their questions.
Income against spending
We set your expected income next to what you plan to spend. Where it falls short, you see about when the shortfall appears and roughly how big it is.
Pension and survivor options
Many pensions offer a larger payment for your life only or a smaller one that continues for a spouse. We lay out what each choice leaves a surviving spouse and whether a life policy could change the math.
Existing policy review
Policies bought years ago can hold forgotten cash value or carry charges that no longer fit. We read them alongside you and explain what they actually do now.
Beneficiary check
We confirm the right people are listed on your accounts and policies. Out-of-date names on these forms turn up in reviews more often than you might expect.
Moments When Clients Usually Call About Income Planning
Retirement is only a few years away
Decisions about when to claim Social Security and which pension option to elect are hard to reverse. Starting early gives you room to weigh them without a deadline pressing on you.
You've saved, but have no drawdown plan
A solid 401(k) balance doesn't say how much you can spend each month without running low. Working out that figure is worth the effort.
A pension election form is on the table
Choosing between single-life and joint-life payments shapes a spouse's income for decades. See both side by side before you sign.
Old policies you can't quite explain
If you hold a whole life or universal life policy from years back and don't know its value, a review can sort that out.
The fear of running out
Plenty of people carry this worry. Turning it into real numbers usually makes the next step clearer.
What Happens After You Call
- 1
A first phone conversation
Share your target retirement date, your current situation and anything keeping you up at night. We'll let you know which documents help most, like benefit statements and policy papers.
- 2
The review
We read through your statements and policies line by line. We're looking for income shortfalls, coverage that overlaps, beneficiaries who need updating and fees you may not realize you're paying.
- 3
Plain findings
Before any recommendation, we go over what we found. You'll see your likely monthly income and where it comes up short, if it does.
- 4
Options, if they fit
If something would help, we put each option, its costs and its limits in writing. Nothing has to be decided on the spot, and you're welcome to talk it through with family first.
What Moves the Price of a Plan
Our first step is the review and the conversation, and you aren't buying anything at that stage. If you later choose to add a product, what it costs depends on that product and on you. Every fee and surrender charge is explained before you apply.
- The type of product
- A fixed annuity, a life insurance policy and a rider each work their own way, with their own costs and terms. We put them next to each other so the differences are easy to see.
- Health and the age you apply
- When a life policy is part of the plan, your health history and how old you are at application set most of the premium. On the annuity side, an older starting age generally means a set deposit buys more monthly income.
- The size of the gap
- Covering a modest monthly shortfall takes less than covering a large one. Matching the plan to the actual gap keeps costs reasonable.
- When income begins
- Income that starts now is priced differently from income that starts several years down the road. Timing is one of the biggest levers in your hands.
Common Questions About Retirement Income
Something not covered here? (361) 204-3965
Am I expected to buy anything after the review?
No. The review is useful on its own. If what you have already covers your needs, we'll tell you so in plain words and that can be the end of it.
How does life insurance fit into retirement income?
It can protect a surviving spouse if a pension shrinks or stops at your death. Some permanent policies also build cash value you may be able to draw on later. We explain both uses and whether either one fits you.
Can you help me decide when to take Social Security?
We can show how claiming at different ages changes your monthly income next to your other sources. The decision stays yours, and we suggest confirming your benefit estimates directly with Social Security.
What should I have ready for the first call?
Recent retirement account statements, any pension estimate, your Social Security statement and copies of current life insurance policies. Missing a few pieces is fine. We can begin and fill gaps as we go.
Do you work with clients outside the city?
Yes. Since most of our planning happens over the phone, distance makes little difference. We're glad to help people in Portland, Rockport, Sinton and the other towns around Corpus Christi, not just those inside city limits.
